The programme explores the boundaries of the photographic medium so that students acquire a deep understanding of the Visual Language. It develops their skills in research methodology, offering specialised theoretical knowledge in contemporary Photography while it develops students’ critical thinking and their ability to conceptually position their work within the broader social context.

During the course of the programme, students study the works of contemporary artists and challenge the limits of the medium and the role of the photographic image in digital technologies and in new forms of communication. Through research and experimentation with the various artistic practices, such as digital and analogue photography, moving images, collaborative practices and new technologies, students examine the crucial role of photography in contemporary visual culture. The programme is characterised by fluidity and flexibility, as do the continuously differentiated aspects of the artistic field, while it considers concepts such as hybridity and collaboration. The programme explores Photography as Visual Language, along with digital imagery, interactive installations and participatory practices, in unexpected and innovative ways.

Information for the programme MAPHO – Master of Arts in Photography and Visual Language

The programme addresses graduates of Photography, Fine Arts, Visual Design and Cinema as well as professionals of related fields such as Art Direction, Film Direction, Video Production, Fashion Photography, Documentary Photography, Advertising Photography etc, who wish to develop their knowledge on a professional and artistic level while at the same time they acquire an interdisciplinary understanding on ways of expression with the use of audiovisual media. Its structure is comprised of six modules leading to 180 credits (90 ECTS).

The modules are Photography as creative expression & as a medium of visual Communication, its relation with other visual media, Contemporary means of presentation (festivals, galleries, museums, publishers etc), Photography and new technologies of the image, Managing Photography (Management, Budgeting, Communication & Marketing), Legal topics (ethics of the medium, copyrights). As a result, students acquire a wide spectrum of knowledge on the various types of Photography and its correlations in order to be able to select the topic for their main Project.

Exhibiting six Main projects from the 2020-21 academic year at Snehta which is known for its support to new artists, expresses our wish to start a creative dialogue on what is happening today on a social and artistic level.

To Snehta υποδέχεται εκθεσιακά τους σπουδαστές φωτογραφίας της σχολής ΑΚΤΟ στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος MAPHO - Master of Arts in Photography and Visual Language. Με αυτή τη συνεργασία, ο οργανισμός επιδιώκει, αφενός το διάλογο με άλλους οργανισμούς που βρίσκονται στην περιοχή, αφετέρου στρέφει την προσοχή του προς το πεδίο των νέων μέσων και της ψηφιακής τεχνολογίας συστήνοντας στο κοινό του μορφές του σύγχρονου οπτικού πολιτισμού μέσα από την τέχνη της φωτογραφίας και της κινούμενης εικόνας.

Οι σπουδαστές του μεταπτυχιακού προγράμματος μελετούν το έργο σύγχρονων καλλιτεχνών και δοκιμάζουν τα όρια και το ρόλο της φωτογραφικής εικόνας μέσα από την έρευνα και τον πειραματισμό στην ψηφιακή και αναλογική φωτογραφία, στην κινούμενη εικόνα, όπως και τον ρόλο που φέρει η φωτογραφία στο σύγχρονο οπτικό πολιτισμό. Ανακαλύπτουν την εικαστική γλώσσα σε σχέση με την ψηφιακή απεικόνιση, τις διαδραστικές εγκαταστάσεις και τις συμμετοχικές πρακτικές. Η έκθεση παρουσιάζει τις διπλωματικές εργασίες έξι αποφοίτων της σχολής ΑΚΤΟ του ακαδημαϊκού έτους 2020-21, σε επιμέλεια της Κατερίνας Αποστολίδου και Λάμπρου Παπανικολάτου

Λίγα λόγια για το πρόγραμμα MAPHO – Master of Arts in Photography and Visual Language

Είναι ένα πρόγραμμα που χαρακτηρίζεται από ρευστότητα και ευελιξία όπως άλλωστε και οι διαρκώς διαφοροποιημένες εκφάνσεις του καλλιτεχνικού χώρου ενώ λαμβάνει υπόψη έννοιες όπως η υβριδικότητα και η συνεργασία. Απευθύνεται σε πτυχιούχους Φωτογραφίας, Καλών Τεχνών, Visual Design και Κινηματογράφου αλλά και σε επαγγελματίες συναφών γνωστικών πεδίων όπως: Art Direction, Film Direction, Video Production, Φωτογραφία Μόδας, Documentary Photography, Διαφημιστική Φωτογραφία κ.ά., οι οποίοι επιθυμούν να αναπτύξουν τις γνώσεις τους σε επαγγελματικό αλλά και καλλιτεχνικό επίπεδο και, παράλληλα, να αποκτήσουν μία διακλαδική αντίληψη γύρω από τους τρόπους έκφρασης με οπτικοακουστικά μέσα.

Η δομή του προγράμματος περιλαμβάνει τις έξι παρακάτω ενότητες (modules) που οδηγούν στην απόκτηση 180 credits (90 ECTS) με σκοπό να αναπτύξουν ένα ευρύ φάσμα γνώσεων πάνω στα είδη της Φωτογραφίας και τους συσχετισμούς της, ώστε να μπορούν να επιλέξουν αργότερα το θέμα που θα αναπτύξουν στη Διπλωματική τους Εργασία (Main Project).

Αυτές είναι: H Φωτογραφία ως Δημιουργική Έκφραση ως Μέσο Οπτικής Επικοινωνίας καθώς και η σχέση της με τα άλλα Οπτικά Μέσα, η Εμβάθυνση σε σύγχρονους τρόπους Παρουσίασης (φεστιβάλ, γκαλερί, μουσεία, εκδότες κ.ά.), Φωτογραφία και Νέες Τεχνολογίες της Εικόνας-Διαχείριση Φωτογραφίας (Management, Budgeting, Επικοινωνία & Marketing)Νομικά Θέματα (ηθική και δεοντολογία του μέσου, πνευματικά δικαιώματα).

COVID-19. Η είσοδος στον εκθεσιακό χώρο θα γίνει δεκτή σε επισκέπτες που συμμορφώνονται με όλα τα προσωπικά μέτρα υγείας σχετικά με την επιδημία Covid-19.

Η είσοδος στην έκθεση επιτρέπεται μόνο με την υπόδειξη πιστοποιητικού εμβολιασμού.
