Η έκθεση Moments of Undoing εστιάζει στις εύθραυστες και οριακές στιγμές κατά τις οποίες άνθρωποι και αστικές δομές αρχίζουν να αποσυντίθενται και σταδιακά συγχωνεύονται.

Αντλώντας έμπνευση από τις αθηναϊκές τέντες και τα μεταλλικά παντζούρια, η Maris δημιουργεί μεταλλικές κατασκευές που αιωρούνται στον χώρο και συγκρατούν μαλακά υφασμάτινα σώματα. Τα έργα, βαμμένα με φυσικές βαφές συλλεγμένες στην Αθήνα, φέρουν κεραμικά βάρη, χάντρες και λίθους, παραπέμποντας σε τέντες φθαρμένες από τον άνεμο και τον χρόνο.

Παρά τη φθορά και την αποσύνθεση, αναδύονται χειρονομίες επιδιόρθωσης: ραφές που κλείνουν, κλωστές που ενώνουν σχισμές. Μέσα από πρακτικές κεντήματος και ύφανσης, το έργο προτείνει ότι η διαδικασία της αποδόμησης μπορεί να εμπεριέχει και τη δυνατότητα αποκατάστασης.

Η έκθεση προσκαλεί το κοινό να αναστοχαστεί πάνω στη χρονικότητα, την απώλεια και τους μηχανισμούς που μας συγκρατούν αλλά και σε ό,τι συμβαίνει όταν αυτοί κλονίζονται.

Η Maisie Maris είναι γλύπτρια με έδρα την Αθήνα. Είναι κάτοχος Μεταπτυχιακού Τίτλου (MA) από το Royal College of Art (2019) και Πτυχίου Καλών Τεχνών (BA Fine Art) από το Goldsmiths, University of London (2015).

Πρόσφατα έργα της περιλαμβάνουν την έκθεση DIG IN, δίδυμη παρουσίαση στον χώρο Staffordshire Street (2023), καθώς και το Stretching for My Sins με το The London Arts Board (2023). Το 2022 παρουσίασε την ατομική έκθεση Estou cheia de pedras nos bolsos στον χώρο 21 Corpo Santo στη Λισαβόνα.

Το έργο της έχει επίσης παρουσιαστεί σε ομαδικές εκθέσεις όπως We Were Always Here στο Living Room, Αθήνα (2025), Innocent Pleasures Suit Me στο Warbling (2022) και I Knock On Your Skin στο SET Woolwich (2022), Λονδίνο.

Moments of Undoing explores fragile moments when people and urban structures begin to unravel and where the two merge.

Inspired by Athenian awnings (“tentes”) and window shutters, Maris creates suspended metal structures that hold soft, fabric bodies. These forms appear torn, weighed down, and partially detached, echoing wind-ripped canvases seen across the city. Natural dyes, ceramic weights, beads, and hagstones anchor each sculpture.

While some elements seem broken or exhausted, subtle gestures of repair emerge. Threads mend tears. Fabric is rejoined. Through processes of embroidery, weaving, and darning, the work reflects on vulnerability, loss, and resilience.

The exhibition invites viewers to consider what holds us together — and what happens when those structures begin to fail.

Maris holds an MA from the Royal College of Art (2019) and a BA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths (2015). Recent projects include DIG IN, a duo exhibition at Staffordshire Street (2023), and Stretching for My Sins with The London Arts Board (2023). 

In 2022, she presented the solo exhibition Estou cheia de pedras nos bolsos at 21 Corpo Santo, Lisbon.
