Snehta is delighted to present the exhibition "3" by the established Estonian group of artists "Eesti Energiad".
The small group of artists, “Eesti Energiad”, first decided to exhibit collectively in 1999 with a show of performance, sculpture and video work at the Salt-storage Art Museum in Tallinn. The exhibition was extremely successful and since then these artists; Jaan Toomik, Jüri Ojaver, Paul Rodgers (and Jaan Paavle now deceased), have exhibited as a group in Austria, Iceland, Scotland, Russia, Finland, Georgia, Germany and America. These artists formed the core of “Eesti Energiad” but they now also regularly include selected younger Estonian artists in their shows. In addition to pursuing their own individual careers, they have also organized several larger, international visual arts events in Estonia. These are site specific, performance, video and installation with participants from around the world.
These artists have found common ground and interests though their personal backgrounds are very different the synergy created by their collaborations has proved to be vital to them as individuals. Although they may not always be the most subtle of investigators, stumbling often through dark territory, they are always honest and the work is at least heartfelt, never cruel – ultimately compassionate and often funny with a dark sense of humor and sometimes self- irony in its observations. Their themes are existential in nature touching on problems that affect us all but expressed through a range of subjects – the human body, sex, food, love, belief, aging, death – but we can also say that these three artists are irreverent and always unpredictable.

Το Snehta με χαρά παρουσιάζει την έκθεση “3” από την ομάδα των καταξιωμένων Εσθονών καλλιτεχνών “Eesti Energiad”.
Οι “Eesti Energiad”, εμφανίστηκαν ως ομάδα το 1999 με μια έκθεση που περιείχε performance, γλυπτική και βίντεο στο Salt-storage Art Museum του Ταλίν. Η έκθεση ήταν εξαιρετικά επιτυχημένη και έκτοτε οι καλλιτέχνες Jaan Toomik, Jüri Ojaver, Paul Rodgers (και Jaan Paavle οποίος δεν είναι πλέον εν ζωή) έχουν δουλέψει ομαδικά σε διοργανώσεις στην Αυστρία, Ισλανδία, Σκωτία, Ρωσία, Φινλανδία, Γεωργία, Γερμανία και στην Αμερική.
Οι καλλιτέχνες απαρτίζουν την καρδιά του “Eesti Energiad” αλλά κατά περίπτωση καλούν και νεότερους Εσθονούς δημιουργούς στις εκθέσεις τους. Μολονότι ο καθένας έχει την δική του πρακτική, κατά καιρούς ετοιμάζουν μεγαλύτερες διεθνείς διοργανώσεις εικαστικών τεχνών στην Εσθονία, οι οποίες παρουσιάζουν επιτόπια έργα, performance, βίντεο και εγκαταστάσεις με συμμετέχοντες απ’όλο τον κόσμο.
Οι καλλιτέχνες “Eesti Energiad” έχουν βρει κοινούς τόπους στις θεματικές και τα ενδιαφέροντα που τους απασχολούν μολονότι έχουν πολύ διαφορετικές καλλιτεχνικές πρακτικές.
Μέσα από τη συνεχή συνεργασία - συνειδητοποιούν πόσο σημαντική για αυτούς είναι αυτή η συνθήκη. Παρ’ότι ο τρόπος έρευνάς τους δεν είναι πάντα ξεκάθαρος - συνήθως έρχονται αντιμέτωποι με μια ποικιλία θεμάτων- ενέχει πάντα το στοιχείο της ειλικρίνειας μέσα σε αυτήν. Το έργο τους είναι μια αρκετά εγκάρδια έκβαση μιας ιδέας ή άποψης, ενίοτε σκληρή και με έντονη δόση dark χιούμορ και αυτοσαρκασμού.
Τα θέματα τους είναι υπαρξιακά από τη φύση τους, κι εξετάζουν προβλήματα που μας αφορούν όλους. Τα εκφράζουν μέσα από ένα ευρύ φάσμα καίριων ζητημάτων, όπως το σεξ, το φαγητό, η αγάπη, η ενηλικίωση, ο θάνατος - αλλά μπορούμε επίσης να πούμε πως αυτοί οι καλλιτέχνες είναι κατά μια έννοια ασεβείς και πάντα απρόβλεπτοι.
